Emily Morgan Hotel, San Antonio This hotel is named for the woman known in
legend and song as "The Yellow Rose of Texas." General
Santa Anna was enamored with Emily Morgan, a mulatto slave who acted
as a spy for the Texas army. Thanks in part to her efforts, Sam
Houston's troops defeated Santa Anna's men at San Jacinto on April
21, 1836, winning the Texas Revolution. Emily Morgan features many amenities to offer
its guests. Every room has an AM/FM alarm clock, coffee maker, hair
dryer and a TV with cable. Most of the rooms have Jacuzzis and mini
refrigerators. The hotel offers baby-sitting and child care services,
a barber shop/salon, a fitness center, 24-hour front desk, laundry
and valet services, RV parking, indoor and outdoor pools, a restaurant,
room service, safe deposit boxes, and meeting or banquet facilities. The best feature of this hotel is its location: literally next door to the Alamo and is within walking distance of River Center Mall, Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center, and other downtown attractions. Many of the guest rooms look down into the Alamo complex. Location: 705 E. Houston St., San Antonio Return to San Antonio Hotels, B&Bs |
