February Festivals in San Antonio

Go Western Gala

Known for: bringing the spirit of the West to San Antonio through dance, song, and food

Events: This event draws many big-name performers; past entertainment has included Lorrie Morgan and Neal McCoy. Tickets include dinner, drinks, dancing, and more. For an additional fee, attendees can sit in the Golden Corral; this special area directly in front of the stage is staffed by private waiters and includes valet parking and other extras. Proceeds from this annual event go to the San Antonio Livestock Exposition's Scholarship Fund. The festivities start at 6:30 pm and continue through midnight. Admission: expensive

Guinness has called this event the world's largest breakfast.

Asian New Year Festival

Known for: annual celebration of the Asian New Year

Events: Sponsored by the Institute of Texan Cultures, this event includes dance, music, food, and crafts. The ethnic cuisine showcased at the festival is always a favorite; look for Chinese fried rice, Indian samosas, Japanese yakisoba, Korean bulgogi and kim chi, Malaysian/ Singaporean beef and chicken satay, Filipino pancit rice noodles, Hawaiian/Polynesian almond cookies, and Pakistani traditional foods. The event also includes hands-on activities featuring the crafts of the region such as Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, paper cutting, and mahjong; Indian sari-wrapping, bindi, rangoli, and palm reading; Japanese calligraphy and origami; Hawaiian/ Polynesian hula dancing, tapa cloth painting, and lei making; Vietnamese fortune telling, and more.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo
This event is one of San Antonio's largest and features three weeks of rodeo fun, performances by some of country music's biggest names, a barbecue cookoff, and more.

River Walk Mardi Gras
San Antonio's always a good place for a party and that fun continues during Mardi Gras season with a Mardi Gras Parade on the River Walk.

CineFestival

Known for: the country's largest and oldest Latino film festival

Events: Showcases shorts, features, experimental, documentary and animated works either by Latinos or about the Latino experience.

Admission: free

Location: Guadalupe Cultural Arts Theater, 1300 Guadalupe St.
