Hilton Palacio del Rio Hotel

This hotel is a pre-fab, albeit a wonderfully elegant one. The 500-room Spanish provincial-style property was built in just 202 days in order to be ready for HemisFair '68. Like giant children's blocks, the rooms (furnishings and all) were assembled off-site and put together here in record time. Today the hotel boasts a wonderful location, right in the middle of the River Walk action and just steps away from La Villita and HemisFair Plaza.

The Hilton has plenty of services to offer its guests. In each of its near 500 rooms, guests will find comfortable beds, an individual thermostat to adjust the temperature of the room, and premium TV options including HBO and ESPN. Be sure to ask for a room with a River Walk view. All rooms include private balconies and you’ll definitely want one with a river view to watch the barges wind their way down the San Antonio River.

The hotel includes four restaurants. The hotel’s Ibiza Patio Bar and Restaurant serves Mediterranean and Texas-style foods for all three meals of the day, and features live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Tex’s Sport Bar allows guests to watch their favorite sports teams while trying Texas’s micro brew beers and appetizers. Durty Nelly’s is a unique Irish Pub that offers cold beer and nightly sing-a-longs. After an exhausting day seeing the sights of San Antonio, you can have a satisfying meal at Rincon Allegre, located in the lobby.

Location: 200 S. Alamo on the River Walk
