La Mansion del Rio, San Antonio

This elegant Spanish colonial style structure began as the St. Mary's Academy in 1854. Eventually, the campus grew, was renamed St. Mary's College, and then graduated to St. Mary's University. This location served as the law school until 1966, when the campus was relocated. At that time, the building traded in blackboards for beds, desks for dressers, and started a new life as La Mansion. Today the hotel has 337 rooms and suites, many with private balconies overlooking the River Walk.

Any visitor looking for a unique hotel that captures San Antonio’s cultural charm will appreciate La Mansion del Rio. The building’s Spanish Colonial architecture reflects San Antonio’s Spanish roots, while the location, overlooking the River Walk, keeps guests in touch with the city’s present-day popularity. The two aspects blend beautifully to offer guests a distinctive home base for their trip.

Many of the 337 guest rooms have a view of the River Walk, and all offer an honor bar, remote control cable television, evening turndown service, two-line phones, and modem access. Around the clock room service and a concierge desk are available for guest needs.

The hotel restaurant, Las Canarias, serves up an attractive cuisine, mixing regional dining with a twist of Texas. El Colegio, the piano bar, has an extensive variety of Texas beer and wine as well as appetizers.

The hotel is well-located for nightlife and dining; the fairly new South Bank stretch of the River Walk is located directly across from the hotel with popular eateries like the Hard Rock Cafe and The County Line.
