Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery, San Antonio

This restaurant never sleeps. Ever. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, this San Antonio institution serves up some of the city's best Tex-Mex fare. No matter when you visit, Mi Tierra is packed with locals and visitors. They crowd into this festive eatery, into booths garnished year-round with Christmas decorations, to enjoy Mi Tierra's specialties.

Breakfast is a busy time, and locals start their day here with huevos rancheros, chiliquiles (scrambled eggs mixed with cheese, onions, and strips of corn tortillas, served with refried beans) or breakfast tacos, one of our personal favorites. All feature what we consider to be the best tortillas in San Antonio.

For lunch, Tex-Mex delights comprise the menu: enchiladas, carne asada, quesadillas. Strolling troubadours take requests for Mexican ballads and give the restaurant a truly authentic air.

Just as authentic is the adjacent panaderia, a Mexican bakery exuding its own tasty aromas: fresh tortillas and polvorones, cookies topped with cinnamon and sugar. Open 24 hours daily.

Location: 218 Produce Row, San Antonio in Market Square
