Sea World San Antonio

Sprawled across 250 acres northwest of the city, this Texas-sized marine park is the largest in the Sea World chain. Located 16 miles northwest of downtown, this park's displays and shows feature orcas, dolphins, seals, and otters partner with an enjoyable water park.

The star of Sea World is Shamu, the 2-1/2-ton orca who engages in graceful swimming exercises with his human partners. There's room for 4,500 onlookers in this stadium, and most of the seats are safe from the huge splashes that Shamu produces as he leaps and dives in his seven-million-gallon tank. Nearby an impressive 300,000-gallon coral reef display contains the world's largest collection of Indo-Pacific coral reef fishes in a simulated coral reef environment.

Now Shamu is showcased in a new show called “Believe” at the redesigned Shamu Theater.

Sea World is also home to numerous theme park rides including two roller coasters as well as cool water rides. Along with the marine activities, you’ll find plenty of thrills at this park as well like the Steel Eel, the only coaster in the Southwest that delivers a brief period of weightlessness, or The Great White, Texas’s first inverted coaster.

SeaWorld San Antonio’s Lost Lagoon also offers thrilling water rides like the Texas Splashdown, the state’s longest and tallest flume ride. Or answer the challenge of the Rio Loco, where six-person rafts ride an 1800-foot-long crazy river complete with rapids and waterfall. Lost Lagoon also offers surf, lagoons, and even beaches.

Location: Intersection of Ellison Drive and Westover Hills Boulevard, just off TX 151 between Loop 410 and Loop 1604.
