The Westin La Cantera San Antonio

Guests will find everything that they could ever need at this 300-acre, $115-million resort on the Northwest side of San Antonio. Thirty-six holes of golf, six swimming pools, three hot tubs, spa services, a full fitness center, a kids' club, numerous restaurants and magnificent views of the Texas Hill Country are all at guests’ fingertips.

Each of 508 guest rooms feature a large work desk, two telephones with voice mail, modem jacks, an in-room safe, two closets, a coffee maker, mini-refrigerator, cable TV with in-room movies, an iron with a full-sized ironing board, a hair dryer and a makeup mirror.

The Traditional Rooms offer a double or king bed with all of the standard amenities. Deluxe Rooms offer the same features as Traditional Rooms, but have a view of either the Hill Country, pool, or city and some offer balconies or patios. Rooms on the Royal Hacienda Level are the Deluxe Rooms, but also include concierge service, evening cocktails, a continental breakfast and access to the club lounge with beautiful views of the natural Texas landscape. Junior Suites include a separate sitting area that includes a fold-out sofa for extra guests. The top-of-the-line Executive Suites are over 1,000 square feet. The main feature of these suites is a parlor area that is equipped with a wet bar, entertainment center, fold-out couch, and coffee table. A walk-out balcony presents amazing views of the city.

Among the many restaurants on property, Francesca’s at Sunset serves gourmet Southwestern fare along with a gorgeous view. The La Cantera Grille serves guests three meals a day. The menu consists mainly of steaks, but fish and chicken plates are always a popular choice. The Gantry is found at the Lost Quarry Pools, and offers its menu to guests lounging in the sun. Seasonal Texas-style cookouts here are not to be missed. A fun and easy-going atmosphere make Brannon’s Cafe a popular choice for meals.

Looking for a place to unwind after a long day? Tio’s Lobby Lounge can be found in the lobby and offers guests a warm spot by the fire where they can sip cocktails and enjoy the melodies of a player piano. Steinheimer’s Bar is a great place to relax. Grab a cocktail from the bar, smoke a cigar from the Cigar Lounge, and melt your tensions away. Of course, room service is offered 24 hours a day for in-room dining.

Enchanted Rock Kid’s Club, for guests between the ages of five and 12, lets kids try arts and crafts, outdoor sports like volleyball and swimming, games, and a chance to play with other kids their age. Rates for Enchanted Rock Kid’s Club vary, so check with the resort.

The health club, numerous dining options, and kid’s activities all may sound wonderful, but the pride of this resort is the golf. Two 18-hole golf courses make up this resort’s backyard. The Resort Course at La Cantera, designed by golf course architect Jay Morrish and PGA Tour pro Tom Weiskopf, was opened in 1995, and the Palmer Course at La Cantera was added recently. This course was developed by Arnold Palmer, his first in the area.Rolling hills and world-class golf set the scene for this 508-room, $115 million destination resort. Known for its Arnold Palmer-designed course (the first in South Texas), the resort is also known for its two additional golf courses and golf academy, not to mention a full-service spa.

All guests have access to six swimming pools embraced in limestone---the hotel was built on the site of a former rock quarry. This sprawling, family-friendly resort is a short distance from Six Flags Fiesta Texas and just 15 miles from downtown.

Location: 16641 La Cantera Pkwy.
