Texarkana, Texas Travel Guide

This community is located on the state line between Texas and Arkansas and visitors often get their photo taken standing in both states.

Texarkana has been home to two famous residents: musician Scott Joplin and entrepreneur and politician Ross Perot. The city is home to the Texarkana Community College and Texas A&M--Texarkana.

Attractions:

Perot Theatre. Honoring Texarkana's most famous resident, Ross Perot, this theater hosts various performances. Located at 219 Main St.

Scott Joplin Mural. This mural recalls the life and career of ragtime's Scott Joplin, one of the best known residents of Texarkana. Located at Third and Main Sts.

Texarkana Historical Museum. This museum is housed in the oldest brick building in Texarkana and showcases local history with exhibits that include a Victorian parlor, kitchen, and more. The museum also includes an 1890s farmstead model and many Caddo Indian artifacts. Located at 219 State Line Ave.

Wright Patman Dam and Lake. Located on the Sulphur River, this expansive lake offers watersports, camping, hiking, and fishing. There are also picnic sites. From Texarkana, 12 mi southwest on U.S. 59.
