Texas Amusement Parks

Ride the rollercoaster, watch the shows, and thrill to the joy of one day with no agenda other than just having fun. Texas's amusement parks offer fun for all family members, but be sure to check with the parks for their opening hours of operation; these change seasonally.

Six Flags® Over Texas

In the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Arlington's Six Flags® Over Texas is one of the best-known theme parks in the state. This park is home to the state's tallest and fastest roller coaster as well as the Texas Giant, which the park cites as the world's top wooden roller coaster. Families with younger children will find plenty of slower-paced fun as well as professionally-produced shows.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas®

Also part of the same family, San Antonio's Six Flags Fiesta Texas® showcases the music of Texas, from '50s rock 'n roll and local Tejano sounds to oompah German tunes. Housed in a former rock quarry, this park has plenty of thrill rides and even an entire section of the park devoted to water rides.

Sea World® San Antonio

Nearby, Sea World® San Antonio is truly a Texas-sized marine park. The star is Shamu, the 2-1/2-ton orca who engages in graceful swimming exercises with his human partners. There's room for 4,500 onlookers in this stadium, and most of the seats are safe from the huge splashes that Shamu produces as he leaps and dives in his seven-million-gallon tank. Along with many marine life and fish exhibits, the park also has rides like The Great White, the first inverted steel roller coaster in the state, and Texas Splashdown, where riders drop down five stories in four-person boats.
