Texas Children's Museums

Hands-on fun is the name of the game for children's museums that seek to teach through experience. Kids can learn everything from science skills to history at these museums, which encourage parents to participate in the exhibits with their children.

The Children's Museum of Houston boasts nine galleries. One of the most unique is the Fondren Technikids Gallery, where everyday technology from magnets to car ignitions is explored. Wonder how a television station works? The Kid-TV Studio encourages children to try out their skills before the camera.

The San Antonio Children's Museum offers plenty of interactive fun for kids ages 2-10. Recently the museum opened the Kids Get Mail post office exhibit in the Museum Workshop. Kids can learn more about the postal system as well as the fun of stamp collecting at the exhibit. During the summer months, the museum schedules mini-workshops to allow children to make different projects each session.
