A good starting point is with the free Texas State Travel Guide,
a full-color guide to over 400 cities. You can order the guide (as
well as a free highway map and Texas accommodations guide, online.

assistance throughout the state.
Texas Travel Information Centers
The Texas
Department of Transportation operates Texas Travel Infromation
Centers at entry points into the state; you'll find them in in Amarillo,
Anthony, Denison, Gainesville, Harlingen, Langtry, Laredo, Orange,
Texarkana, Waskom, Wichita Falls, and in Austin at the State Capitol
Visitors Center. From 8 am to 6pm, you can also call 1-800-452-9292
for travel assistance information.
Road Conditions
The TXDoT office also operates a road
condition hotline; call 1-800-452-9292 or check the TXDoT website
for
information on road closures and detours.
