Three Rivers, Texas Travel Guide

Region: South Texas Plains

Three rivers--the Frio, Atascosa and Nueces--give this South Texas community its name. The city is the center for the area's ranches and farms but is best known by travelers as the gateway to Choke Canyon, a 26,000-acre reservoir on the Frio River.

Attractions

Choke Canyon State Park. Located on Choke Canyon Reservoir, four miles off 72W, this park offers camping, fishing, and boating as well as picnicking.

Festivals & Special Events

April: Three Rivers Salsa Festival. A 12-piece salsa band takes the stage while aspiring salsa chefs compete in three categories. You, too, can taste the offers: chunky, sweet or fire-engine hot and place your vote for the people's choice award. Call the Chamber for more information on the festival or to enter a salsa of your own.
