Armstong Browning Library, Waco

Hotels in Waco

Central Texas may be an unlikely place to find the world's largest collection of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning materials but thanks to Baylor's Dr. A.J. Armstrong, the library has developed these extensive holdings including many of the couple's personal belongings.

The library's bronze doors, modeled after 15th century baptistry doors by Ghiberti in Florence, were sculpted by Robert Weinman and portray themes from the Brownings's works.

The two-story museum also features the world's largest collection of secular stained glass windows which illustrate works of both writers.

Location: 700 Speight Ave. between 7th and 8th Sts. on the Baylor University campus.
